Before the year wraps up
Use this year’s dental benefits before they reset
|

Hi there,
Every fall we get the same good question at the front desk: “Do I have anything left on my insurance this year?” It is worth asking. Many dental plans run on the calendar year, which means the yearly maximum and the deductible start over on January 1. In most plans, benefits you don’t use simply don’t carry over.
A few things worth checking before December gets busy:

Your cleanings and checkups. Many plans cover routine exams and cleanings, often twice a year. If you haven’t had your second visit yet, now is a good time. |

Treatment you’ve been putting off. If we talked about a filling or a crown at your last visit, finishing it this year may let you use benefits you’ve already earned. |

Your benefit year. Not every plan follows the calendar. Some reset on a different date, so it helps to confirm yours. |

A flexible spending account. If you have one through work, check its deadline too. Rules vary by employer. |

Take a look at your toothbrush
If the bristles are bent or frayed, it’s time for a new one. A good rule of thumb is every three to four months. While you’re at it, add one small habit: clean between your teeth once a day with floss or another interdental cleaner.

Good news for busy weeks: you can now get appointment reminders by text and confirm with a quick reply. Let us know at your next visit if you’d like to switch, or keep your reminders just as they are. We also gave the waiting room a fall refresh, so come say hello to the new reading chair.
